L’art de la Fromagerie
In my opinion is Marseille’s best cheese shop, or fromagerie. With over 200 different varieties, you won’t know where to begin, luckily the shop keepers are very knowledgeable, and happy to offer suggestions and samples along the way!
Each month the stores prepares a basket which offers a selection of cheeses from a specific region in france. In this way you can discover and enjoy the distinct particularities which each region prides themselves on.
This November the selection honored the Massif Central region of France and put on display the following cheeses:
Cantal vieux – AOP, St Nectaire – AOP, Bleu d’Auvergne – AOP, Bleu d’Auvergne – AOP et Rigotte de Condrieu – AOP
and what’s more they host tastings every month, to better acquaint the customers with the new arrivals!
The art de la fromagerie also makes a ready made basket to prepare a raclette.
A raclette is a dish from the savoy mountainous region, which has become a traditional french meal for the winter months; consisting of meats, potatoes and melted raclette cheese.
A delicious selection of cheeses, but that’s not all! They also offer all the other accompaniments to make a delicious french platter for an apératif with friends and family. All artisinal products from france terrines, pâtés, honey, butter, and conserves. As well as wine, craft beer, and cider, which they help you pair for a perfect match with the products you’ve selected.
Rabbit Terrine with Thyme and Hazelnuts
I should also mention that the prices are phenomenal. L’art de la fromagerie is really just a win win type of place. When in Marseille do not hesitate to stop buy and see for yourself.
I’ll be posting how to make a perfectly french meat and cheese platter, so you can impress your guests with your refined taste. Stay tuned.
